Fundamental and Applied Reviews in Analytical Chemistry 2025
There is a growing interest in and demand on analytical chemistry for application scenarios from ex situ analysis after sample collection to in situ, operando, or bedside analysis without sample pretreatment. Our annual Special Issue on Fundamental and Applied Reviews in Analytical Chemistry provides authoritative critical reviews on selected topics, including the highlights and current ...
AGREE—Analytical GREEnness Metric Approach and Software
Green analytical chemistry focuses on making analytical procedures more environmentally benign and safer to humans. The amounts and toxicity of reagents, generated waste, energy requirements, the number of procedural steps, miniaturization, and automation are just a few of the multitude of criteria considered when assessing an analytical methodology’s greenness. The use of greenness ...
Electrochemical Methods in the Cloud: FreiStat, an IoT-Enabled Embedded ...
The FreiStat yielded analytical results comparable to benchtop devices and outperformed current commercial embedded potentiostats at significantly lower cost, smaller size, and lower power consumption. Decentralized corrosion analysis by a Tafel plot using the IBM Cloud showed its applicability in a typical IoT scenario.
Rapid, Portable, and Electricity-free Sample Extraction Method for ...
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for rapid and reliable diagnostics that are accessible in resource-limited settings. To address this pressing issue, we have developed a rapid, portable, and electricity-free method for extracting nucleic acids from respiratory swabs (i.e. nasal, nasopharyngeal and buccal swabs), successfully demonstrating its effectiveness for the detection of ...

Structural Characterization of Wheat Straw Lignin as Revealed by ...
The structure of the lignin in wheat straw has been investigated by a combination of analytical pyrolysis, 2D-NMR, and derivatization followed by reductive cleavage (DFRC). It is a p-hydroxyphenyl-guaiacyl-syringyl lignin (with an H:G:S ratio of 6:64:30) associated with p-coumarates and ferulates. 2D-NMR indicated that the main substructures present are β-O-4′-ethers (∼75%), followed by ...
CRISPR Enzyme Kinetics for Molecular Diagnostics | Analytical Chemistry
CRISPR-diagnostic assays have gained significant interest in the last few years. This interest has grown rapidly during the current COVID-19 pandemic, where CRISPR-diagnostics have been frontline contenders for rapid testing solutions. This surge in CRISPR-diagnostic research prompts the following question: what exactly are the achievable limits of detection and associated assay times enabled ...
